Abstract: |
A geophysical (magnetometer) survey was carried out on land north of North Lane, Wheldrake, in advance of the determination of a planning application for a proposed housing development. The survey has identified anomalies consistent with the 19th century agricultural landscape as depicted on historical Ordnance Survey mapping, including back-filled ponds, a former boundary and ridge and furrow cultivation. However, no anomalies of archaeological potential have been identified. Therefore, on the basis of the geophysical survey the archaeological potential of the site is considered to be low. |
