Abstract: |
The evaluation did not identify any archaeological remains. All of the trenches contained reinstated topsoil and made ground, of the trenches excavated seven did not encounter intact natural geology. The trenches that did contain intact natural geology did not reveal any archaeological remains and it was clear that the natural geology had been heavily truncated and impacted by machine movement. Construction work on the A329(M) was carried out between 1972 and 1975 which appears to have had a large impact on the site. It is likely the whole field was used as a compound area during the roads construction. |
