Abstract: |
This is a post-excavation assessment of an archaeological strip, map and sample excavation undertaken at Haven Farm, Sutton Valence, Kent. The archaeological works were commissioned by Provian Construction on behalf of their client in advance of proposed housing development. The excavation was approximately 0.3 hectare in size, and was undertaken between 22nd August and 13th September 2011. The earliest feature was a small prehistoric enclosure cut by pits and ditches associated with a Late Iron Age / Early Roman settlement. None of the archaeological deposits demonstrated unusual levels of truncation and the geology was Head deposits capping Hythe Beds. |
