Abstract: |
In November 2017 Archaeological Solutions (AS) carried out an archaeological evaluation on land at the stables opposite 83 The Butts, Soham, Cambridgeshire (NGR TL 5967 7221; Figs. 1 - 2). The evaluation was undertaken in compliance with the initial requirements of a planning condition attached to planning approval for the proposed construction of two houses, garaging, parking, access and associated site works (East Cambs Council Ref. 16/00510/OUT). It was based on the advice of Cambridgeshire County Council Historic Environment Team. The earliest feature was Pit F1009 (Trench 2) which contained Late Neolithic - Early Bronze Age pottery. It also contained burnt flint and burnt bone. A residual Roman sherd was contained in modern Ditch F1011 (Trench 2). Undated ditches may have formed part of former field boundaries. |
