Abstract: |
An archaeological trial trench evaluation undertaken on land with Calbury Garden Centre, Piercebridge, Co. Durham. The evaluation accorded to a Written Scheme of Investigation (NAA 2012) approved by the Durham County Council Archaeology Section in support of a planning application. The development is located in an area of high archaeological sensitivity. It is situated 280m to the north of Piercebridge Roman fort and vicus and is flanked by a Roman burial ground.
