Abstract: |
Oxford Archaeology was commissioned by CgMs Consulting on behalf of Pegasus Group and Leicestershire County Council to undertake an archaeological evaluation for a proposed new development. The evaluation comprised 37 trenches over c 6.7 ha of land, representing a 2% sample of the site. The site lies to the south of a known Iron Age settlement and Roman field system. Very few archaeological features were exposed, comprising a small number of undated ditches. Furrows also crossed the site, and an area of modern made ground was found in the south-west associated with the creation of the nearby roundabout. The evaluation suggests that few archaeological features are present on the site. |
