Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation and metal detector survey were undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in June 2012 on land off Cheltenham Road, Evesham, Worcestershire. Thirty-five trenches were excavated. A small number of archaeological features was identified across the site, comprising mainly pits and ditches. There was a single broad and deep ditch of Middle Iron Age date and a later pit with numerous fragments of animal bone. Further ditches, gullies and discrete features investigated were either natural features, undated or of post-medieval date. In the northeast and south of the site there was extensive evidence for ridge and furrow, modern land use and the planting of trees. |
