Abstract:		 The watching brief monitored an excavation at the junction of Derby Gate with Canon Row. During the excavations, a severe truncation to archaeological horizons were found as a result of service cuts. This resulted in a reduced scope of archaeological monitoring in these locations. The area involved revealed a post-medieval wall and a series of layers heavily truncated by 19th Century cut features and the construction of a manhole
