Abstract: |
English Heritage undertook a walk-over survey and assessment of the earthwork remains surviving in the western part of the monastic precinct at Byland Abbey in North Yorkshire. The survey raised questions about the likely extent of monastic ponds and the nature of the water supply system and identified evidence for a post-Dissolution 'polite' landscape perhaps connected with a residence on the site. (This was report 33/2004 in a previous series). |
