Abstract:		 In June 1998 the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England (RCHME) carried out an archaeological survey and investigation of the Iron Age hillfort on Yeavering Bell in the Northumberland National Park. The field evidence points to two episodes of enclosure around the summit of Yeavering Bell, the second phase mirroring the layout of the first except for the re-alignment of the east and west ends creating a more defendable site. The survey recorded the remains of over 120 platforms for round houses dating to the Iron Age and determined that the polygonal enclosure surrounding the east summit post-dates the Iron Age occupation. (This was report number 24/1998 in a previous series)
