Abstract:
Pre-Construct Archaeology Ltd (PCA) was appointed by Eastleigh Football Club (the Client) to undertake a programme of archaeological work in connection with the erection of a two storey building to provide club house, education room and shop at ground floor and executive club, board room and police surveillance at first floor at Eastleigh Football Club, Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh, Hampshire, NGR 444195 117243, hereafter 'the Site'. This report concerns the results of the archaeological watching brief, which involved a series of monitoring visits made during October 2016. Six foundation pits and connecting trenches were monitored, however none produced any significant archaeological deposits, features, artefacts or environmental remains. The remains of a modern drainage system in the North East corner as well as other services present in the East of the site indicated any possible in situ archaeological deposits were likely to have been disturbed.
