Abstract:		 A request was received from Graham Pledger of the Conservation Engineering section of English Heritage for advice on the dating and historical significance of the bellframe at St Mary's church, at Attleborough in Norfolk. The bellframe dates from the early sixteenth century and has been altered, strengthened and repaired on numerous occasions since its original construction. An archaeological recording project was carried out by Richard Bond of the Research and Analysis team of English Heritage, in collaboration with Bill Blake and Andy Crispe of the Metric Survey team of English Heritage. The study forms part of a wider English Heritage research project aimed at developing standard procedures for recording and analysing historic bellframes.
