Abstract: |
In March 1998 the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England (RCHME) carried out an archaeological survey and investigation of the remains of woodland industry in Heald Wood near Claife in Cumbria. A series of pitsteads relating to charcoal burning were recorded which appear more heavily revetted than normal due to the steep nature of the ground. (This was report number 25/1998 in a previous series) |
