Abstract: |
Archaeology South-East was commissioned by Berkeley Homes (Southern) Ltd, on behalf of West Sussex County Council, to conduct an archaeological watching brief on the Phase 2 groundworks during redevelopment on land east of the A24, immediately West of Horsham. A first phase of monitoring was undertaken in March 2012 with a second phase in November 2012 of monitoring that focused on the stripping of a road. Natural Weald Clay was observed across the area. Topsoil was only seen to overlie the natural in the south of the site; across the remainder of the area horizontal truncation had occurred with only modern dumped material overlying the clay. No archaeology was observed. |
