Abstract:
The owner of this field wished to know more about the humps and bumps in his field. We carried out magnetometry, earth resistance, resistivity profile and a contour survey. These appear to have located a late Saxon to medieval tower and castle with a village to its north. There were also remains which could be Bronze Age and Iron Age in date. The Time Team television programme later identified a 17th century Civil War ditch there.
