Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out by AC Archaeology during groundworks associated with the excavation of water pipe trench at Horner Farm, Holnicote, Luccombe, Somerset. Horner Farm is located some 1.5km to the northwest of Luccombe and is part of the Holnicote Estate, which lies to the northeast. The farm consists of a complex of buildings of which some surviving elements have been dated to the 16th to 17th century. The earlier elements included the site of the Old House, which lay adjacent to the area monitored. Although largely demolished during the 19th century to allow access into the yard to the west and re-built to the east as a store, some of its earlier fabric had been retained in the later structure. |
