Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken by AC archaeology during groundworks associated with the replacement a surface water outfall at Noss Mayo, Devon. The surface water runoff is located on the west side of Noss Creek, which extends south from Newton Creek. Its route extended across the foreshore adjacent to Popes Quay and the Ship Inn public house. The work was undertaken due to the potential for exposure of buried archaeological deposits relating to the historic use of the shore, sunken vessels/hulks or parts thereof, or deposits relating to former land surfaces now submerged due to rising sea levels. |
