Abstract:
This report presents the results of an archaeological watching brief undertaken by AOC Archaeology Group at Old Philpstoun Paddock, prior to the proposed development of two house plots and associated infrastructure at Old Philipstoun Paddock, Bridge House, Philipstoun, West Lothian (Planning Application No. 0131/FUL/15) centred on NGR: NT 059 772. During the works a series of archaeological features comprising two pits, a stone feature and the remains of a wall were encountered, investigated and recorded. These are believed to date from the post medieval period and to be associated with the extant dwellings surrounding the development area. No further archaeological works are recommended. This will need verification by the West of Scotland Archaeology Service (WoSAS), who advise West Lothian Council on archaeological matters.
