Abstract: |
Between March and May 1999 the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England (RCHME) carried out an archaeological survey and investigation of Blue House Farm, North Fambridge in Essex. The most important result of the survey has been to underline the significance of the whole landscape at Blue House, itself part of the greater landscape of the Crouch estuary. Reclamation of Blue House Marsh probably began in earnest in the later 16th and early 17th centuries, while the principal visible monuments of this landscape are the sea walls and counter walls and drainage ditches. (This was report number 3/2000 in a previous report series) |
