Abstract: |
In March 1994, the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England carried out an earthwork survey of the remains of a formal garden at Combs Hall, near Stowmarket, in Suffolk (NCR TM 0511 5684). This work was requested by Edward Martin, of Suffolk County Council, and is intended to inform future management of the site. The earthworks of the garden include a vista, the site of a parterre and a small ornamental lake. Most of the house was dmolished in 1756, but the service range and two outbuildings survive in use; these structures were also recorded. |
