Abstract: |
A programme of archaeological investigation by means of trial trenching and strip map and record were carried out as part of a planning condition (REF 07/01795/OUT) for a mixed use development on land adjacent to Corton Road, Corton, Ayr. The results identified fairly extensive settlement evidence in one part of the proposed development area, with three distinct concentrations of features. . The stripped area contained c. 60 negative features. Two structures, one circular (Structure 1) and the other sub-circular (Structure 2), and associated features were present. These potentially represent Iron Age activity in the area. |
