Abstract: |
Herefordshire Archaeology undertook a survey which formed part of a pilot study for The Community Commons Project operated by Herefordshire Nature Trust. A rapid walk over survey was carried out on the common concerned. A hand held Global Positioning by Satellite System was used to record the location of features encountered. Features were recorded within the common that would illustrate the intensive use of the land resource in the late and post medieval periods, i.e. quarries, relic boundaries, platforms and hollow way's. The remains of an earlier Common Boundary were recorded running through the north of the present common. Other features consisted of a circuit of level track ways and hollow ways. |
