Abstract: |
John Moore Heritage Services carried out an archaeological watching brief during groundworks ahead of a new build and an excavation of a swimming pool at Dunthrop House, Dunthrop Road, Heythrop, Oxfordshire. OX7 5TJ. Three pits were identified across the excavation area. Two of the pits contained no finds but the largest pit, identified as a possible quarry pit, contained a piece of medieval pottery and medieval tile fragments in one of its fills. The fill, however, also contained a piece of modern pottery and a post-medieval iron fitting. The uppermost fill of this possible quarry pit contained fragments of modern brick. No features or deposits were present on the site that could be positively dated to before the modern era. |
