Abstract: |
This report presents the results of an archaeological evaluation carried out by Archaeology South-East Former Wayside Nursing Home, Rusper, West Sussex on the 21st September 2015. The fieldwork was commissioned by Good Architecture in advance of the construction of several bungalows. Over the four trenches excavated only a single medieval gully was identified, containing domestic pottery dating from AD1150 to AD1300. This coincides with the with the 13th Century date for the foundation of Rusper as a village, and the slightly earlier presence of the Benedictine Priory. |
