Abstract: |
The building was recorded prior to refurbishment. The house is a four bay / two-unit building that externally appears to retain its original form. Internally the stairs have been replaced, the upstairs sub-divided to include a bathroom and a back-boiler inserted into the inglenook fireplace. The staggered position of the front door and stairs, not typical of cottage layouts, may suggest either a former cross-passage house or relocation of either the front door or the stairs. Exposure of the floor joists and any removal of the render or plaster may clarify this. |
