Abstract: |
A walkover survey was carried out for the purposes of land management at Cochno Hill North, Dumbarton on behalf of Forestry Commission Scotland. In contrast to previous surveys in the area, prehistoric sites dominated the monuments recorded and included hut-circles and cairns. In addition to the prospective survey at Cochno, an assessment of key monuments in surrounding areas was made, including at the chambered cairns of Cairnhowit and Gallangad Burn. A synthesis of the archaeology of the Kilpatrick Hills was prepared, along with an assessment of the significance and value of the heritage assets in the area. |
