Abstract: |
The gradiometer survey failed to identify the precinct limits. However, excavation demonstrated that the boundary survives only as a foundation wall (or robber trench), which has no magnetic component, and, as such, could not be detected. The resistance survey, prior to torrential rain, produced very clear results. The Chapel, Master's House and a row of Almshouses were all identified, together with the line of the precinct wall. Excavation confirmed the geophysical predictions. |
