Abstract: |
Four boreholes put down during geoarchaeological fieldwork at the Kenavon Drive site revealed a sequence of Holocene alluvium, in places containing peat, overlying Terrace sand and gravel. A possible palaeochannel, broadly aligned north-south was identified in an east-west transect of boreholes. Towards the centre of this channel peat was recorded at between ca. 33.2 and 33.9m OD; radiocarbon dating of the base of this horizon indicated that accumulation began during the Neolithic (5920 to 5750 cal BP). |
