Abstract: |
Four geoarchaeological boreholes were put down across the site to investigate the sub-surface stratigraphy. The records were integrated with nearly 340 other records from the site and its nearby surroundings to produce a detailed deposit model. The results revealed a Shepperton Gravel surface that sloped that dropped steeply to the south of the site towards the River Thames. Towards the north of the site, two areas >-2.50m OD were recorded that have a greater potential to record archaeological remains; the rest of the site is considered to have little potential. Alluvium and Peat overlies the Shepperton Gravel surface. The Peat has an uneven distribution across the site. |
