The paper describes the earthworks in two areas to either side of the present-day farmyard at Grange Farm, West Dereham, where a combination of historical and topographical factors has resulted in the survival of over ten hectares of permanent pastures and earthworks. To the southeast lies a square water feature with accompanying terraces, banks, ponds and walkways. The water feature has been classified as a medieval moat, but the paper argues that it was an integral part of a seventeenth-century garden. To the northwest lie both ridge and furrow and `narrow rig', along with ponds, banks, a series of concentric channels and a small building platform.

A metal-detector survey at Bayfield resulted in the discovery of a metal skillet. Careful investigation of the findspot led to the discovery of the burial of an adult male. The burial was furnished with a spear, silver buckles, an iron-bound bucket and a pottery vessel, in addition to the skillet. Summary of research carried out by the Project between 2005 and 2007. The project's main focus continued to be the excavation of a large portion of the Middle to Late Saxon cemetery and settlement on Boneyard Field; in addition, field survey and excavation were undertaken on the site of a Roman farmstead located in the south of the parish. In 2007, field survey and trial trenching in Chalkpit Field, immediately south of the Boneyard excavations, uncovered substantial further evidence for the Middle to Late Saxon settlement.
