Abstract:		 Archaeological recording during the construction of the foundations for the new extension at the rear of Stoke Court, although small in scope, revealed a stone drain constructed in the same green sandstone as the existing house foundations indicating a likely contemporary date. A single C17 pottery sherd from its fill seems to corroborate this. Construction of the drain clearly truncated an earlier soil horizon which produced roof tile dated from the mid C13 onwards, evidence indicating that the existing building may have replaced an earlier medieval structure on the site.
