Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was carried out by CFA Archaeology on land at Marrable House, The Vineyards, Great Baddow, Essex during April 2016. Three trenches were excavated across the site targeting the potential survival of foundations relating to a pre-existing 18th century house on the site. Within the trenches, one small north-south orientated likely garden wall feature was recorded along with a pit containing pottery dated from the 11th - 13th centuries. No evidence for the main 18th century house was identified within the excavated trenches, with the lack of demolition materials within suggesting landscaping of the site during the construction of the 1960's building. |
