Abstract: |
Archaeological evaluation and excavation carried out by Pre-Construct Archaeology on land at 76-78 High Street, Billericay, Essex CM12 9BS (centred on OS NGR TL 67444 94571) between April and June 2019. The archaeological work was commissioned by Orion Heritage in response to a planning condition attached to the construction of a new building at the rear of the application site. The evaluation, which comprised a single 10m long trench revealed a number of post-medieval post-holes. Subsequent excavation exposed an additional posthole, two late 18th/19th century walls and some probable extraction pits which contained domestic waste and post-medieval CBM. |
