Abstract:		 In December 2013, the first stage of an archaeological trial trench evaluation was undertaken at James Bond Caravan Park, in order to inform development proposals for the site. Of the seven trenches excavated across the site, the four in the eastern part of the site were excavated through layers of modern made ground, suggesting this part of the site has been badly truncated and built up during recent times, probably at least partly during the construction of the nearby bypass. The three remaining trenches were excavated in the western part of the site, and revealed a natural soil profile, with only one area of made ground encountered at the western edge of the site. One ditch was observed and recorded, and one small rim fragment of abraded 2nd century pottery was recovered from its fill. The date of the ditch remains uncertain.
