Abstract: |
An evaluation was undertaken by Archaeological Services Durham University at Darlington Fire Station in February 2020. Five trial trenches were excavated. 19th century terraced housing foundations were identified in places below modern surfaces. In places these had been deliberately grubbed out during demolition and infilled with brick/concrete rubble. A dark grey silt was present below the 19th century foundations but no earlier archaeological features were identified in it. |
