Abstract: |
Monitoring of flood defence works along the River Chet revealed four sites, two of which were excavated and are detailed in other OASIS entries. One of the other sites was the waterlogged remains of a probable fish trap which was radiocarbon dated to the Middle Saxon period. The other was the remains of a brick-built culvert within the old flood bank. A review of map evidence suggested that this was constructed in the late 19th or very early years of the 20th century. |
