Abstract: |
An excavation was carried out on the above-water areas of Dorman's Island in Whitefield Loch, Wigtownshire. A single trench measuring 6m by 4m was excavated, joining the area between three trial trenches excavated in 2006. Horizontal and vertically driven timbers were encountered, forming a floor level and piling interpreted as the interior divisions of a building. The vestigial remains of a wall bounded a deep clay surface, laid down on top of organic flooring materials. Small finds were limited, but included fragments of blue/yellow cable glass bracelet. |
