A later Neolithic site at Ecton, Northampton

3 - 30
Between December 1971 and March 1972 excavations were carried out on a Neolithic site at Ecton. Shallow hollows, patches of burnt clay and at least one hearth were associated with a scatter of worked flints and an assemblage of Ebbsfleet and Mortlake-style Peterborough ware, and also Beaker pottery
An Iron Age site at Twywell, Northamptonshire
Dennis A Jackson
31 - 93
Remains of an extensive complex (6000+ sq m) of Iron Age enclosures and associated features were excavated in advance of quarrying. Work was focused on the intact Enclosure B and its internal features, and on three adjacent hut-circles. At least 180 pits were found, of which half lay within Enclosure B; seven articulated burials (three human, two pig and two dog) were recovered from the pits, and there was some evidence for grain storage. Many recuts of the main enclosure ditches indicate long occupation, perhaps 4th to early 1st century BC. Pottery, small finds and human and animal bones are catalogued.
The Romano-British farmstead and its cemetery at Lynch Farm, near Peterborough
Richard F J Jones
94 - 137
Part of a cropmark site was examined in advance of gravel-working. Pits and ditches attested occupation throughout 3rd and at least early 4th century AD. An adjoining cemetery, containing one cremation and at least 50 inhumations, presumably served the farmstead; wooden coffins and stone cists were used, and some grave-plots were re-used repeatedly. Grave goods were rare. Pottery (treated quantitatively), animal bones and human bones are reported.
