Abstract:		 Between the 6th March 2013 and the 2nd July 2015, OA East carried out an archaeological watching brief at Land between Main Road, Rectory Road and Clements Way, Hawkwell, Essex (TQ 850 914). The monitoring was carried out during the demolition of an existing dwelling and construction of 176 houses, with associated infrastructure, public open space and landscape works. A series of features of post-medieval to modern date were recorded comprising a ditch and seventeen post holes, no earlier remains were found. The ditch may be a boundary shown on the Tithe map 1838 (Fig 3, Plate 21) and the OS map 1873 (Fig 4).
