Abstract: |
A geophysical (magnetometer) survey, covering approximately 31 hectares in total, was carried out on agricultural land at Southwick, Trowbridge in Wiltshire. Previously unknown archaeological structures have been detected in the form of negative responses. Former field boundaries have been identified throughout the site that correlate to old mapping. Anomalies indicative of the underlying geology, field drains, service pipes and modern disturbance have also been detected. The archaeological potential of the survey area, therefore, is deemed high in the areas of identified archaeological anomalies. |
