Abstract:		 This report describes the results of an archaeological trial trench evaluation carried out by Pre-Construct Archaeology on land at Regal Bingo Club, Hempfield Road, Littleport, Cambridgeshire (NGR TL 5670 8670) between the 14th and 15th October 2015. The archaeological work was commissioned by Buckingham and Sparrow Ltd in response to an archaeological brief written by Gemma Stewart of Cambridgeshire County Council Historic Environment Team. The aim of the work was to characterise the archaeological potential of the proposed development area. The evaluation identified a layer of buried soil in both trenches, which contained highly abraded sherds of early Roman and medieval pottery. The highly abraded nature of the pottery in the buried soil indicates that it was likely transported from the main focus of settlement up slope, probably to the north-west of the site.
