Abstract:		 Historic building recording works undertaken at , in respect of proposed works at Sandbed Farm, Auldgirth, Dumfries and Galloway (NGR: NX 9455 8354). The proposed works comprise: change of use of agricultural buildings to light industrial use (planning application no 19/0310/FUL). Sandhead is recorded in Dumfries and Galloway HER (MDG27133) as a farmstead and farmhouse and is depicted on mapping dating to 1804 as two parallel long buildings. The current Ordnance Survey map depicts buildings around three sides of a courtyard. As the proposal involves removals and alterations to the existing standing structures, Dumfries and Galloway Council attached a condition to the proposal requiring archaeological works to be undertaken prior to commencement of any alterations. Dumfries and Galloway Council Archaeology Service, who advise Dumfries and Galloway Council on archaeological matters have provided guidance on the nature of archaeological works required. The works consisted of historic building recording works comprising an Enhanced Survey of the buildings (as defined in the ALGAO Scotland Buildings Guidance, 2013), to include: a fully catalogued photographic record of the elevations, both internal and external, of the standing buildings and a phasing of the buildings development.
