Abstract:		 Trent and Peak Archaeology were contracted on behalf of Bellway Homes East Midlands to undertake an archaeological trial trench evaluation on land at Southwell Road, Farnsfield. Of the thirteen trenches excavated, seven produced archaeological features.Whilst the site has been affected by ridge and furrow, it is clear there are still pockets of archaeology which have survived beneath the ridges. Furthermore, the concentration of archaeological features appears to intensify in the northern two thirds of the site. The low quantity of artefacts recovered suggest that the evaluation has identified a small-scale agricultural settlement and/or field boundaries of possible Romano-British date.
