Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation comprising a programme of field walking was undertaken on land at Kyme Road, Heckington, Lincolnshire, in order to determine the archaeological implications of proposed development at the site. The site lies in an area of known archaeological remains dating from the prehistoric to the present day. Fields to the north and west of the site have produced worked flints and pottery of prehistoric and Romano-British date. Early Saxon remains are known to the southwest. Finds retrieved during the investigation range in date from prehistoric to early modern and suggest the site has had an agricultural use since at least the post-medieval period. Finds of earlier periods suggest activity in the area which is likely associated with surrounding settlements. |
