Abstract: |
In July 2013 historic building recording was undertaken of five buildings affected by the proposed Luton Town Centre Transport Scheme, comprising: Station House in Midland Road, a small double-fronted detached house of typical mid-19th-century style, which predates the coming of the railway to Luton in 1860 Three 20th-century structures within the former Midland Railway goods yard, comprising a former abattoir, a weigh-house and small building of uncertain function. Cougar Garage, a large 20th-century brick structure of five bays in a style reminiscent of Art Deco, beneath steel framed, glazed ridged roofs. Originally identified on OS mapping as 'Depot': more recently a car body repair shop. |
