Abstract: |
Foundations Archaeology undertook an archaeological evaluation on land at 94 to 96 High Street, Maidenhead, Berkshire The evaluation comprised the excavation and recording of five test pits within the footprint of two buildings, with planning permission for retail and residential redevelopment. The test pits revealed the presence of Post-medieval to Modern soil layers and deposits. Due to on site constraints, none of the test pits were excavated to a depth that penetrated to undistrurbed natural geology and, as such, the test pits have only evaluated the upper part of the potential stratigraphic sequence. No significant or earlier features, deposits or artefacts were present within the investigated areas |
