Abstract:
An archaeological evaluation undertaken by Pre-Construct Archaeology Limited on Land at Hardriding Farm, Brighton Road, Pease Pottage, West Sussex, RH11 9AA, to satisfy planning condition attached to planning permission DM/15/4711. Archaeology South-East, (ASE) were initially commissioned to carry out the archaeological evaluation. After commencing with Phase 2, and excavating three trenches out of nine, ASE closed the site due to the Corona Virus outbreak. Pre-Construct Archaeology Ltd were then contracted to complete the works on site. The evaluation revealed two undated postholes and a pit, probably of post-medieval origin. Natural deposits were seen at between 134.94m aOD and 136.74m aOD in form of Upper Tunbridge Wells Sand-Sandstone and Mudstone.
