Abstract:
A walk-over survey was undertaken on 15 August 2018 along the proposed route of a new overhead 11kv interconnector line between the village of Ford and Salachary Farm, a distance of some 1.5km. Drystone dyke NM80SE 98 (Site 3) was identified during the walk-over survey as were the remains of several other such walls. However, neither cup-marked rock NM80SE 100 (Site 1) nor the putative broken standing stone NM80SE 102 (Site 2) was located, the former perhaps due to the dense vegetation cover, the latter because it is believed to be a buried feature and, furthermore, the grid reference assigned to it is very vague, being accurate to within 100m. No previously unrecorded sites or monuments were encountered along the route.
