Abstract:
The scheme of works comprised the construction of a new house extension and associated garage and services on land immediately to the rear of Dale Cottage, 33 Dale Road, Elloughton, East Riding of Yorkshire. Standard Humber Field Archaeology recording procedures were used throughout; each identified feature was allocated a context number, with written descriptions recorded on pro forma sheets. Plans and sections were drawn to scale on pre-printed permatrace sheets. A digital photographic record was maintained. A programme of archaeological observation, investigation and recording was undertaken by Humber Field Archaeology in advance of the construction of a house extension and associated garage and services on land immediately to the rear of Dale Cottage, 33 Dale Road, Elloughton, East Riding of Yorkshire. One feature, namely a modern ditch 1005, was recorded crossing the north eastern corner of the house extension footings. This feature is thought to be a drainage ditch associated with the construction of the roadway connecting Dale Road to Elloughton Dale subsequently filled in during the later construction of Dale Cottage.
