Abstract: |
In November 2012 Archaeological Solutions (AS) carried out an archaeological monitoring and recording at Finches Farm, Benington (NGR TL 3050 2330; Figs. 1 and 2). The monitoring was commissioned in compliance with a planning condition attached to planning permission for an extension to the existing farmhouse (East Herts Planning ref. 3/12/1073/FP). The monitoring and recording encompassed the ground reduction and the excavation of the foundation trenches associated with an extension to the Grade II Listed farmhouse building. The extension is on the north side of the farmhouse which is an 18th century addition. No archaeological features were present. Post-medieval CBM fragments (324g) were evident within L1004 which directly overlay the natural. |
